1Thessalonian chapter 1

Introduction

Thessalonians church was founded in Act 17:1-4 and the letter was one of the early writings of Paul, written around A.D 50-51 from Athen (1Thess 3:1) to support and further expantiate on gospel, Faith and Selfless-Love to the Thessalonian church through Timothy, who dispatch the letter. (1Thess 3:6)

1Thess. 1

Paul recount on their assessment of the church

1 Paul and Silvanus (Silas) and Timothy, to the churches of Thessalonians, in the Lord Jesus Christ and God the FATHER. Peace with God + the FATHER + and Grace from + our Lord Jesus Christ+ be unto you.

2 We are always grateful to God concerning everybody, making reference to you upon our oratory prayer; -

3 - remembering without omission before God and our FATHER, your work of selfless-Love and the cheerful-endurance in hard-work and the pleasurable-hope in the Faith unto our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Remember how you are saved

4 selflessly-love the brethren, be aware of your election under God.

5 because our good message did not happen to be unto you in much information of words only, but also in mighty-miracles, even by the Holy Spirit, just as you are aware of the kind we become within you, because of you.

6 and you, became our imitators, even by accepting the words of the Lord within much tribulation (Act 17) with Joy of the Holy SPIRIT.

Be a good example

7 in so much that you become example to all who have Faith in Macedonia, and in Greece (Achaia).

8 Because, the words of God was echoed/resounded from you, not only in Macedonia, and Greece (Achaia in Europe) but your Faith towards the Lord proceed forth to everyone in places, in so much that, no need to have us preach to anyone.

9 for it was reported concerning us, of what kind of entry we had towards you and how you turned towards God away from idols, even to serve the Living and True God,

10 and as you are expecting His Son from Heaven, Who was raised up again out from the dead, even Jesus, Who has rescued us from the wrath to come.

1Thessalonian chapter 2

1Thess 2

Paul himself is a good example of a Witness

1 No doubt, Brethren, they are aware, that our entry towards you has not happened to be in vain;

2 but having suffered before, and insulted/abused in Phillipi (of Macedonia), just as you know of us, we were frank/bold in God to preach the gospel of God to you, within much struggle/agony.

3 for our exhortation was not from error, neither out of uncleanness, nor in deception;

4 but just as we are to be tried under God, we likewise preached the gospel to have Faith; not as though to please men, but God, WHO will prove our hearts.

5 for, just as you are aware, a Witness/martyr of the words of God should neither at any time become flattery, nor be in outward show for greed;

6 we neither seek the glory from men, nor (glory) from you, not even from other Apostles in Christ who can be as a burden.

7 But, we become mild/gentle in your midst, as in the case, of a nurse, nursing her own children.

8 likewise, we are well-pleased to have shared/imparted the Gospel of God to you, and not only by being concerned/yearning for you, but because your own souls have become dear/beloved to us.

9 For, the Brethren, will remember our labour and toil, in proclaiming the gospel of God unto you; working night and day, towards not being chargeable to anyone of you.

10 And, as we become witnesses of God, piously and righteously, and unimpeachably  to you, even for you to have faith.

11 you know, exactly as a father to his own children, we are as one to each person.

12 and we have exhorted and encouraged you, and even testified unto you, to walk worthily of God, Who has called you forth unto His own Kingdom and Glory.

Word of God is True and has come to work in us with power

13 And by this reason, we are grateful to God without omission (at all prayer hours), because, having received the words by things heard from us, you did not accept the words as from men, but Truly as from God; (for) it is the word of God, which has worked/is effective in you to have faith.

14 No doubt, brethren, you have become imitators of the church of God in Judea. For you, under your own country/native-men, you suffer the same thing in Christ Jesus,  even just as they, under the Jews. (Act 17)

15 who having killed the prophets and Lord Jesus, (they are) never pleased but are antagonistic/contrary to all men of God, and have even driven us out.

16 always preventing us to preach to the heathen races, at least (for you) to be saved; however, to the intent of filling up their sins, and the wrath has already arrived upon them unto the ultimate end.

Paul advise personal diligence and his desire to visit again

17 Moreover, Brethren, not having totally separated away from your presence, towards an hour of time, my heart is eager/prompted exceedingly with much longing to see your face.

18 on this account, I, Paul indeed had wanted to come towards you, once and even twice, but satan hindered me.

19 For, what is our hope, or joy, or crown of boasting? Is it not you indeed, before our Lord Jesus, at His return?

20 For, our glory is also your joy.

1Thessalonian chapter 3

1Thess. 3

Apostles carry out oversight work on the churches in spite of the risks

1 Because of this, I could no longer hide, being well-pleased to be left alone in Athen (Capitol of Greece),

2 so, we dispatch (Letter) by Timothy, our brother, and fellow-worker of God, in the Gospel of Christ, to support/set you resolutely fast in one direction, and to encourage you concerning your faith,

3 nobody was shaken by those tribulations, because they also knew that we are lying outstretched unto these.

4 For, even, while we were with you, we told you before, that we are about to be afflicted, just as it happened, and you have known.

5 By this reason, even I could no longer cover up/forbear, to dispatch (letter) unto you, on how much you should know of Faith, and not to be tempted by tempters, and our labor unto you would become vain.

6 Moreover, from now, Timothy will be going from us towards you, even as we have preached the good news of Faith, and  selfless-Love to you; that you will have a good remembrance of us always having craved to see us even exactly as we (do) for you

7 brethren, by this reason, you will be exhorted upon all your needs, on account of Faith and upon our tribulations.

8 Because, in case you stand firm in the Lord now, you will live on.

9 for HOW MUCH gratitude can we reciprocate to God for you, upon all the joy which we have rejoiced because of you, before our God-

10 - even as we earnestly pray more exceedingly, nights and days, unto seeing your face, to prepare/mend your deficit of Faith?

Paul want the Church to do more of Selfless Love

11 however, for us, he will direct/guide you towards the Way of our Lord Jesus and our FATHER God.

12 So, as you do more for the Lord, superabound in selfless-Love unto one another, and unto everybody, exactly as we (do) unto you,

13 to the intent of setting your hearts resolutely fast in one direction, blameless in sacredness (hagiosyne) before God and our FATHER, at the return of our Lord, Jesus, amid all His Holy ones.

1Thessalonian Chapter 4

1 Thess 4

Cleanliness from harlotry and idolatry is highly mandated

1 Brethren, the remaining thing is to ask/beg and encourage you in the Lord Jesus, at least, just as you have received alongside with us, how it is neceossary to walk and be pleasing to God, even as you have been walking, at least, do much more abundantly.

2 for you are aware of what mandate, given to you, through the Lord Jesus.

3 because this is the desire of God, even for your PURITY: you should abstain/be fully taken away from harlotry,

4 (as) you purchase/get each of your own implements/tools at a price; be aware that the Purity in you, -

5 - is by (His) PASSION/emotional-suffering/tough experience, and not exactly as of the heathen race who are not aware of God, in (their) lust.

6 - brethren, as we have protested/testified, it is not by going-too far, and in taking advantage of matters/events (pragma) concerning these things; and just as the Supreme Lord has said before; HE will carry out vengeance/justice on account of all.

7  God has however called us out, not upon impurity, but in purity.

8 Then, for those who set it aside, they are not despising man but God Who has given Holy Spirit unto us.

Brethren-love (philadephia) should be highly encouraged

9 Moreover, concerning love-of-brethren, we have no need to write to you on it,, because, you have been  instructed by God, to SELFLESSLY-LOVE one another.

10 for, even all brethren in Macedonia have done the same thing unto all, and we encourage you, brethren, to abound much more (in it).

11 and be ambitious (to be honored), by being quiet, practising things on your own, and work with your own hands, just as we transmit the message to you.

12 at least, towards walking decently/properly, having need of nothing outside.

Christians don't die, they sleep

13 However, I don't want you ignorant, about those who have fallen asleep, at least not to be grieved, just like the rest, who have no hope.

14 because, if you believe that Jesus died and rose again, even through God; Jesus will likewise lead/bring back, those who had fallen asleep together with Him.

There will first be a catching-up of risen dead and living Christians to heaven (harpazo)

15 For, we say this to you by the words of the Lord, that we, who remain around living unto the return of the Lord, will not arrive earlier/be ahead of... those who had fallen asleep,

16 because, by the command/call of God, the Lord shall descend from heaven, among Arch-Angels, by their sound even by their Trumpets, and the dead in Christ shall rise up first;

17 thereafter, simultaneously with them and we, the living who are left behind all around will be grabbed/caught away (harpazo) into the air, and unto a response to the Lord in the CLOUD and we shall likewise be together with the Lord, always.

18 thus, encourage one another by these words.

1Thessalonian Chapter 5

1Thess 5

The Day of reigning and judgment of the Lord (Annon Domino)

1 Moreover, Brethren, I have no need to write to you concerning the set time and the space of time.

2 for you know accurately that the day of the same Lord, will likewise come as a thief in the night. (note: lateness is implied not suddenness)

3 Whenever they say, peace and security, then suddenly, as a travail of having the child in the womb; destruction will stand before them, and they will never escape.

4 but brethren, you are not in darkness, at least for the day to grasp you as a thief.

5 For you are all, sons of the Light, even sons of the daytime; you are not of the night, not even of darkness.

6 Ara (heartfelt sigh lifted to heaven), therefore, never lie down resting like the remaining ones, but keep awake, and be sober/clear minded/abstain from wine;

7 for those who sleep, sleep by night; and those who drink, get drunken by night.

8 however, for being of the daytime, who abstain from wine, with pleasurable hope, we have put on selfless-LOVE on our chest and helmet for salvation by Faith.

9 for God has not positioned us unto wrath, but unto acquisition of salvation, through our Lord, Jesus Christ;

10 concerning us, whether we stay awake or sleeping; at least, together with them who had died, we shall simultaneously live.

11 on account of that, exhort and build up one another, one by one, even just as we have done.

Various pieces of advice to the Church

12 However, we ask you, brethren, be aware of those who work hard among you, and who preside over you and admonish you in the Lord;

13 as they lead/direct through selfless-LOVE, and in the same work of pacifying/making peace, for the sake of your own self.

14 Moreso, we exhort you, brethren, to admonish the unruly, relate close to the feeble minded, help the weak, be very patient towards everybody.

15 Never shall we see anyone, who will repay evil for evil to anyone. Always pursue good, unto one another and unto everybody.

16 Rejoice/be cheerful always.

17 Make prayer without omission (at every prayer hours).

18 Express gratitude in all things; for this is the desire of God in Christ Jesus unto you.

19 Never quench the SPIRIT (fire).

20 Never despise prophecy.

21 however, you are to test/examine all things, and hold fast to virtuous things.

22 Keep away from all form of evil (people/things).

Assurance of finishing strong by the SPIRIT

23 Moreover, the SPIRIT will consecrate you completely (to the end), and Peace with God will keep your soul and body perfectly sound, and they shall be blameless in the return of our Lord, Jesus Christ;

24 Faithful is the One who has called you and will do (it).

25 Brethren, make prayer concerning us.

26 greet/embrace all the brethren (as) in a kiss of holy things (e.g Torah, mezuzah)

27 I adjure you by the Lord, to read the letter to all brethren.

28 The Grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ be with you. +Amen+

(The first letter was written by Paul from Athens)
