2PETER chapter 1

Introduction:

This second letter was written towards the end of life of Apostle Peter. Since Peter was martyed/killed in Rome during the reign of Nero, his death must have occurred prior to A.D 68. He was very likely to write 2nd letter of Peter between A.D 65 and 68. He called on Christians to grow and become strong in their faith, so that they could detect and combat the spreading of apostasy and false teachings about the return of the Lord. He strongly stressed the authenticity of the Word of God and the assurance of the return of the Lord Jesus by quoting Moses on the differences between the way God read time (3:8, Ps 90).

2 Peter 1

Assurance of a full-backing of God as the Grand-FATHER to faithful grandsons 

1. Simon Peter, a Servant and Apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who are valued equally to us, to have obtained by lot, the faith - unto our Saviour, Jesus Christ by Justification of God -

2. Peace with God and Grace of Jesus multiply unto you by instrumentality of full-discernment (epignosis) of our Lord. 

3. As all of us have been gifted power and zoe-Life through full discernment of His divine FATHERHOOD (Uncle), having called us, towards HIS own Piety, Glory and virtue/quality/superiority, 

4. through a SELF-committed-promise, by which greatest and honorable things have been gifted to us, at least through these Person (Jesus), we have become partakers of lineal descent of divine FATHERHOOD (UNCLE), to escape the corruption in the lusts in the world.

Grow in Faith with these additional 7 qualities.

5. Moreover, He (Jesus) also introduced these things alongside by promptness/diligence of everybody, to furnish in addition to your FAITH; VIRTUE/Quality, also in virtue/being a genius, (add) mental-knowledge (gnosis),

6. also in (mental) knowledge (gnosis), (add) self-control (egkrateia); also in self-control, (add) cheerful-endurance; also in cheerful/hopeful-endurance, (add) piety;

7. also in Piety, (add) brethren-affection (philadelphia); also in brethren- affection, (add) selfless-Love (agape). 

8. Because, as these things are permanently seated in you, being the coming-up-leaders, you will not be idle, nor being unfruitful, but will do more unto full discernment (epignosis) of our Lord, Jesus Christ;

9. For, whoever is not near/close to these things, is blind (mentally) and he is squint/myopic, oblivion to have received his purification from old offences/sins.

10. Brethren, by this reason, in a greater degree, make effort, to make your calling and election sure, because by doing these things, you will not at any time stumble/err.

11. For, in this way, you will copiously/richly be furnished additionally unto the entrance of the Everlasting Kingdom of our Lord, and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Peter was proactive and QUICK in his assignments, being aged and he was fearless of death 

12. although, I will always remind you concerning these things in the future, on account of you knowing and be steadfastly set in the present Truth. 

13. Moreover, I am directed, as long as I am in this temple (body), to stimulate/fully awaken you on remembrance of the righteous things.

14 I will be QUICK /SWIFT, knowing that I shall deposit/put off my temple (body), just as our Lord, Jesus Christ also, has made it plain to me (ref: Jh 21:18)

15. So, make effort/endeavor to always do these things, amid my exodus/exit, and have them in (your) memory.

Peter finally rehearses the testimony of God the Father concerning Jesus on mountain of metamorphosis

16. Because, we did not make this known to you, to closely follow out a sophisticated/cleverly-devised-myths/fables, but (for you) to become supervisors/eye-witnesses of the power and Majesty of Jesus Christ at the return of our Lord.

17 because, having carried such an honor and glory under His FATHER, we received a voice of befitting-greatness from God besides the glory: This is MY Beloved Son, unto Whom I AM well pleased.

18. And we heard that voice, together with holy men (Moses and Elijah) who were brought from heaven to Him, on the mountain.(Matt17, Mk 9)

19 so, for having sure prophetic account, pay attention in your heart to do well, until a day the One Who is the Light-Bearer (Phosphoros) will arise and shine as a lamp, to illuminate in dark places.

20. First of all, we know all these things by the prophecy in the Holy writings/scripture, and no resolution/explanation was generated on its own. 

21. Because, prophecy was not brought forth at any time by the choice of man, but they were brought forth under Holy Spirit and preached from the men of God.

2PETER chapter 2

2 Peter 2.

Beware of Teachers of heresy 

1. Moreover, false prophets will happen to be among the people, even as there are false teachers also among you. Some of who introduce/interpolate heresies and damnation, even by rejecting The Despots (Absolute Ruler), Who has bought/purchased them, and are swift to cause damnation upon themselves.

2. And many have followed after their lewdness, through whom the way of the Truth is blasphemed.

3. And by covetousness, they fabricated words out of the olden things, to merchandise you; whom their judgment of damnation will not be late. So, do not be sleepy.

Judgment will come upon False teachers

4. Because, if God will not spare, Angels who sinned, but are kept in chain, and delivered up into darkness of deepest abyss (tartaroo), for judgment;

5. And, men of ancient world were not spared, by bringing floods (inundation) upon the irreverent/impious world, but Noah the eighth (from Adam) , and the herald of righteousness, was preserved. 

6. And the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah (places near dead sea) were condemned to catastrophe of being reduced to ashes/incinerated; to be an example to those who are about to be impious/irreverent.

7. Even Lot, the righteous, was in turn strained/tired out, under the lewdness of the lawless (people);

8. because , the reports of their unlawful acts, from day to day in the sight of a righteous man, who settled down among them, vexed his righteous soul.

9. The SUPREME Lord knows HE will rescue the reverent people out of temptation; but wicked ones will be reserved unto judgment day, and be punished.

10. Especially those who travel/come afterwards, overbearing/self-pleasing, who are in lust of uncleanness of the flesh, also very daring to despise lordship, and never tremble to blaspheme the glory.

Wrong teachers are known by their conducts: ref. in Letter of Judah

11 even, Angel (Michael) at wheresoever, being great in strength and power, did not bring judgment besides The SUPREME Lord against HIS blasphemer (satan).

12 Howbeit, these ones, like irrational living things, naturally/physically born, unto being captured and being decayed, blaspheming what they are ignorant of, and will entirely perish in their decayed state.

13 commanding you to do wrong for wages, feasting/faring well together with you in wrong-doings for pleasure and tenderness/luxury, indulge in delusion/deceptions, even in their blemish and stains,

14 full unrestrained eyes to adulteresses, and holding on to sin, unstable/unfixed heart to be enticed; having souls trained (gymnazo) for greed --- what a children of curse!

15 Who immediately abandoned the way, and gone astray, to follow after the way of Balaam, a son of Beor (Moabite) who loved wages of injustice/wrong-doing;

16. however, he had a check on his own transgression by a dumb ASS uttering a clear sound in a man's voice, to forbid the insanity of the prophet.

17. These people are waterless fountain/well, a cloud driven under whirlwind, who are reserved for gloomy darkness .

Deception of the false teachers 

18. having shuned/avoided the error/delusion for a little while, they have turned around to speaking of enormous vanities, and in lewdness, they are enticed by lusts of flesh; 

19. being slaves to sub-rulers in a decayed state who are promising them freedom, because who defeat a person, to the same, he is enslaved.

20 because, if they have avoided the pollution of the world, by full discernment (epignosis) of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and were entangled and overcome again by those things, their latter state will become worse than their first state. 

21. No doubt, it would have been better for them, not to have acknowledged the way of Justification, than having acknowledged it, to turn back from the injunction of the HOLY ONE, delivered to them.

22 An adage has transpired to be true on them: a dog (kuon) has returned upon its own, and a sow bathed of excreta, into a rolling in quagmire.. (Prov 26:11).

2 Peter 3

God's promise does not linger as man supposes

1. Beloved, this is already the second letter, written to you for remembrance, in which, I am honest to fully awaken your intellect/deep thoughts.

2. to be reminded of the utterances (rhema) previously spoken to you, even the injunctions under the holy prophets and the Apostles of our Lord and Saviour;

3. first of all, know this, that, upon the latter days, they will travel/go to mockers who will come in mockery, according to their own lust, 

4. And saying, where is the promise of His coming/advent? Because, away from the fathers who had fallen asleep (dead), all things have continued in this way even from the ancient time of creation.

5. This thing lie hidden to them. Because, heaven was determined to exist long ago, and the earth was out of the water; and through water, things were introduced/set together, by the Words of God.

6. On account of WHOM the world at that time was innundated and fully destroyed by water.

7. But now, the heavens and the earth, by the Same Words, are treasured up, to be reserved unto the day of judgment and destruction of irreverent men by fire.

8. However, Beloved, this one thing should not be hidden to you, that ONE DAY in the vicinity of the SUPREME Lord, is like a THOUSAND year; so, a thousand years is as ONE DAY. (Ps 90:4)

9. The promise of the SUPREME Lord will not be delayed, as certain men lead/govern in slowness, but HE is patient/bear long unto you, not willing that any person should perish, but for everybody to be given a space/to be fit unto repentance.

The day of the Lord (A.D - annon domino) is years of dominion and judgment of the Lord.

10. However, the day of the Lord will arrive here like a thief, in which the sky will pass away with rushing sound and the earth will be broken down with burning, and their doings/work also will be found out in their serial-contituents/elements 

11. As all these things shall be broken down in this way, what kind of holy upcoming-saints ought you to be in your piety, in turn?

12. Anticipate/expect God to hasten up the return/advent of the day, on account of which the sky will be kindled/set on fire and the orderly arranged constituents/elements will be broken down, burnt and melted.

13. However, according to HIS Self-Committed Promise, expect/anticipate for a New-age-sky and a New-age earth, in which we will dwell permanently by Justification. (Rev 21:1-2).

Be steadfast and grow in mental knowledge (gnosis) by Grace 

14. Beloved, by reason of this, as you expect/anticipate for these things, be dilligent in Him, and be found in Peace, without stains and without blemish.

15. Beloved, by long-forbearance, the Lord is commanding/leading our salvation; even just as our Brother Paul, according to the wisdom (sophia) given to him, has written to you,

16 as in all letters also, he preached in them concerning these things, in which  some things are recondite/abstruse/incomprehensible; which the unlearned and unstable ones had twisted/subverted towards their own destruction, even as (they did to) other scriptures.

17. Therefore, Beloved, preserve things you have known beforehand, at least not to be led away with the deception of the lawless ones and fall away from your own support/stability.

18. Moreover, grow in the (mental) knowledge by the grace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be the Glory even now and unto the days of ages/eternity. (Amen).
