2TIMOTHY Chapter 1

Introduction

Apostle Paul wrote the second letter to Timothy around AD 66 from prison at Rome after his first defense before Nero. Paul encouraged Timothy to be steadfast like a soldier, an athlete and a farmer who will be rewarded. He also warned him against false teachers and invited him to come over to Rome.

2 Tim 1

Hold on to the Grace 

1 Paul, an Apostle of Christ Jesus, through the determination of God, according to the Promise of Zoe-Life in Christ Jesus,

2 Peace with the FATHER God, and Mercy and Grace from our Lord, Jesus Christ be to Timothy, a beloved son: 

3 by holding on to the Grace from God, WHOM our ancestors worship in pure co-perception; I have remembrance of you in my supplications, as without omissions, day and night;

4 at least, as I remember you (with) tears, I yearn to see you, to be fully-filled with joy.

Faith as a legacy for Timothy

5 A reminder of the sincere Faith in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother, Eunice (well victorious-euniko); and I am convinced that it is also taken in you.

6  A reason through which, I am reminding you, to rekindle the divine gift (charisma) of God, which is in you through the laying of my hands.

7 For, God has given us the SPIRIT, not for cowardice/timidity, but for mighty deeds, for selfless-Love and for discipline/moderation.

Do not be wearied or ashamed of the Gospel 

8 Therefore, I am not ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, not even of myself, being a prisoner; but for sharing together in His suffering for the good-news/gospel (which is) according to the mighty-works of God;

9 WHO saves and calls me forth as holy saint by an invitation, not according to my works prior to the space of time, but by GRACE (charin) given to me in Christ Jesus for eternity, according to HIS OWN proposal/purpose, 

10 Moreover, through the appearing of our Savior, Jesus Christ, Who shine light through the gospel and indeed render death useless, zoe-Life and incorruptibility (immortality) has manifested now. 

11 unto which I am ordained, a Preacher and an Apostle, and a Teacher [even to heathen nations]. 

12 a reason through which, I have suffered for these things but not ashamed, because I know Whom I believe, and I am persuaded that I am able to keep the committed legacy unto His day. 

Preserve the legacy/the show-case of Faith, by the SPIRIT 

13 hold on to Faith and the pattern of sound/healthy words, which you have heard from me, in SELFLESS-LOVE (which is), in Christ Jesus.

14 Preserve the virtuous legacy/deposit, through the Holy SPIRIT, WHO is dwelling in us.

Good-doers will be commended and wrong-doers will be noted

15 You are aware of this, that all who are born of hermes (greek-god/Hemogenes) and Phygelus (storm/fugitives) in Asia, have averted/turned away from me.

16 The Lord gives mercy to the household of Onesiphorus (profit bearer), for many times, he has refreshed me, and not ashamed of my chain;

17 who on the contrary, happens to be in Rome, to most importantly, seek and find me.

18 The Lord gives him mercy, even to be found with the Lord in that day. Even, you know, as much as he ministered very well in Ephesus!

2TIMOTHY Chapter 2

2 Tim 2

Be strong in Faith, like a Soldier-man, like an Athlete and a hard-working-Farmer

1 Therefore, you, my son, be empowered in the Grace, (which is) in Christ Jesus.

2 And what you have heard from me and through many Witnesses; commit/present these things to the Faithful men, some of who will be competent even to teach other men (hetero);

3 Endure hardship together like virtuous SOLDIERS of Christ Jesus.

4 No-one, serving in the military campaign, would be entangled with treatise/affairs of life sustenance, at least, to please those who recruit him.

5 Moreover, in case anyone is competing in ATHLETICS; he will not be crowned, except he competes in the game legitimately/according to the rules.

6 A FARMER who has laboured, must first of all, partake of the fruits.

7 Exercise mind on what I have said; for the Lord will give you intellectual-understanding (sunesis) in all-things.

8 Recollect that, according to me, the gospel is: Jesus Christ, Who is out of the offsprings of David, has been raised up out of the dead.

9 by which, I underwent suffering, as far as, being in chain like a criminal; but, for the word of God to be bound/chained, never!

10 Because of these Chosen ones, I endured all through, at least, to secure their salvation with eternal glory in Christ Jesus.

11 for faithful is the account; if we die together, even we will continue to live on together (with Him);

12 if we endure/bear trials, we will be co-regents/reign together; and if we deny Him, even He will deny us.

13 if we ourselves dis-believe, this thing remains faithful; for it can not be contradicted. 

Approved and disapproved workers

14 be quietly reminded to earnestly testify of God in the face of these ones, not by dispute over trivial words and not even upon useful words, (which is) a thing of subversion/catastrophe to those who are listening.

15 Be prompt, to present yourself acceptable to God, a worker who is not ashamed to dissect the word of Truth correctly (make a straight cut);

16 stand aloof, empty heathenish-voices, for they are upon advancing more of impiety/wickedness;

17 and they hold on to words as gangrene (dead tissues) is unto a pasture; of whom are Hymenaeus (god of weddings) and Philetus (amiable);

18 who have missed the mark, concerning the Truth, by saying, RESURRECTION has happened already; and overthrow the Faith of some people.

The attitude of those on Solid Foundation of Faith

19 Nevertheless, those who stand on the solid foundation of the Lord, have the Seal of God, and are known by name to Him; and everyone named by the Lord will depart from wrongdoings.

20 However, in a mega-house, there are, not only golden and silvery equipments, but even wooden and earthen ones; and those which are indeed unto honour, and those which are unto dishonor.

21 in case anyone had cleansed himself from those things, then, he is like equipment unto honour, prepared by the Master (Despote), made holy/sanctified and useful for good deeds unto all.

22 moreover, he will flee from youthful lusts, he will also pursue JUSTIFICATION by FAITH, and selfless-LOVE and invoke/call forth PEACE with the Supreme-Lord out of a clean heart.

23 He will also shun/excuse questions from foolish and untrained/uneducated people, knowing that it breeds quarrel.

Meekness is needed, until they are saved

24 Moreover, the servant of the Lord are not to be quarrelling, but must be gentle toward all, instructive/apt to teach, resilient/enduring ill,

25 train/educate in meekness, (so as) not to be the one opposing giving them full discernment of the Truth at any time, (which would have been) unto their repentance to God, 

26 and to regain their senses unto HIS desire, out of the trap of the devil, who captured them alive under itself.

2TIMOTHY Chapter 3

2 Tim 3

Take note of the coming perilous time upon the unbelievers

1 Moreover, absolutely know this, that in the latter days, difficult (wearisome) times will be present;

2 for there will be men who are selfish, stingy (fond of money), boasters, proud, blasphemous, un-persuadable by parents, ungrateful (to God), and who are against divinely right characters (unmerciful);

3 unkind to family, treacherous/untrustworthy as devil, without self-control, savage, non-benevolent/disliking good things,

4 betrayers/traitors, too forward (precocious), proud, fond of luxury more than lovers of God;

5 who hold on to the formation/education of piety, but they deny His Power; turn away from these ones also.

6 for, out of these kind, are those who capture foolish feminines, unto wrapping up her households, by bringing them to divers longings and pile up sins,

7 always learning, but can never come unto the full discernment of the Truth.

8 the mode by which those ones also opposed Moses; likewise jAnnes (favored) and jAmbres oppose the Truth. The men who are depraved in mind, a cast-away/unapproved concerning Faith. (Act 4:6 - hAnani(jah)  and (alex)Andre) 

9 But, they will not advance further, for their folly will be evident to all, even as it happened upon those ones (with Moses).

Living Piously in Christ, rather than the piety in Jewish religion will attract persecutions

10 Moreover, to you, who watch/closely follow my upbringing, (my) teachings on the intention/proposal of Faith and on Selfless-Love, on Long-Patience, on Cheerful-Endurance;

11 the kind of persecution and the suffering that happened to me in Antioch (of Syria), the kind of persecution, I endured in Iconium, and in Lystra (of Asia minor); but, out of all, the Lord delivers me.

12 for, even everybody, who desire to live piously in CHRIST JESUS, will be persecuted.

The man of God and the word of God 

13 Moreover, the vicious things of the sorcerers/enchanters (muttering spells) will advance more to the worse, and upon being deceived, they will deceive men.

14 you should however abide in what you have learnt, and be aware that from whom you have learnt (them), is confirmed trustworthy.

15 because, having known the holy writings from childhood, you can be made wise unto Salvation, through Faith, in Christ Jesus.

16 (because) Holy Writings are God breathed/inspired by God, to everybody and are beneficial towards teachings/Instructions, towards checks/test, towards restoration/renewal (Straightening up again), towards Training/discipline by instrumentality of Justification. 

17 at least, for the man of God to be complete/fully prepared, and be fully equipped toward good-deeds to everybody.

2Timothy Chapter 4

2 Tim 4

Preach the word 

1 Earnestly testify of the kingdom of God before them and of Christ Jesus WHO is about to judge the living and the dead, even at His appearing/manifestation:

2 Proclaim the word by long patience; be present in good time and contrary-time; convict/check, evaluate and exhort everybody by the teachings. 

3 for, there will be a time when they will not bear/put up with sound (healthy) teachings, for things heard shall be itching (to them); but, they will gather additional teachers for themselves, according to their own lusts/longings.

4 and they will turn away from things heard, indeed from the Truth, and so, deflect over to myths.

5 to you, do the work of an Evangelist (preacher of good message), be sober/mentally clear in all things, and fully carry out your ministry, however, you will suffer/undergo hardship. 

The last message of Paul 

6 For, by my analysis even now, I am standing near the set time to be poured out.

7 I have contended (fought) a virtuous contest (fight); I have finished the track-race; I held fast to Faith.

8 remaining, for the Judge, Who is the Lord to deliver to me, a crown of Justification, reserved for me, and not only to me but to all the Righteous ones, who love His appearing/manifestation on that day.

Paul felt lonely; declare John-Mark, to be incorporated by selfless-Love (vs 11)

9 Make effort to come to me quickly,

10 for, having loved things of the present age, Demas had travelled unto Thessalonica; Crescens (growing) unto Galatians (in Asia) and Titus unto Dalmatia (in Europe), leaving me behind.

11 Only Luke is with me; bring Mark with yourself to take over, because he is useful to me in the ministry. (Col 4:10)

12 Moreover, (I) send Thychicus (fortunate) unto Ephesus.

13 bring the outer-garment and the books, especially the parchment (membrane), I left with Carpu (fruit), in Troas, as you come, 

14 AlexAnder (man-defender), the coppersmith, demonstrated much evil things to me. The Lord will repay him, according to his deeds.

15 of whom even you are to watch, for he exceedingly opposed our words.

16 In my FIRST DEFENSE, no one was present with me, but all left me behind. What to them, I will never reckon!

The Lord is always Faithful 

17 However, the Lord stood by me, and empowered me and rescued me out of the mouth of lion, at least through me, the proclamation shall be fully carried out even for all the heathen-nations to hear.

18 The Lord Who has rescued me from all evil works, will save me unto His heavenly kingdom. To Whom be glory from ages unto ages. Amen. 

Greetings and final grace

19 Greet Prisca (a sister) and Aquila (eagle), and Onesiphorus households.

20 Erastus (beloved) remains in Corinth, I also left Trophimus (nutritive) sick in Myletus (of Asia minor).

21 Make effort before winter to come, Eubulus (good Willer), and Pudens (modest), and Linus, and Claudia (a sister), and all the brethren greet you.

22 The Lord be with you, the SPIRIT of Grace be with you. +Amen+

(the second letter to Timothy, the first ordained Bishop of the Church of Ephesians was written from Rome as soon as Paul stand before Nero out of second time).
