Introduction:
The letter was written between AD 88-95. It was addressed to a chosen lady, who is probably Martha together with her sister Mary. The major injunction of Jesus, to selflessly-love everybody at least the brethren, not as "the philie" that has been in the former law of Judaism, otherwise there will be no wages for her. He also warned against impostors who claim that Christ Jesus has not come as human being and the need for this dear Christians female-lord to preach sound and full gospel of selfless Love for her full reward.
2 JOHN
The Joy of seeing new Christians walking in the Truth of Christ salvation
1. To the chosen Lady-elder, and her children in the Truth, who I selflessly love, and not only me, but even all that have absolutely known the Truth (about salvation in Christ).
2. Through the Truth which dwell in us, and which will be with us unto ages;
3. the Peace with God, the FATHER, and the Grace from our Lord, Jesus Christ, the mercy and selfless-Love of the Son of the FATHER, shall be with those of us in the Truth.
4. I rejoice very much to find from your children (little Christians) who are walking (occupied) in the Truth, just as you have received the command/mandate from the FATHER.
No Agape-work, no reward/wages for Christians
5. And now, Lady, I write to you to request/pray you, not as what we held on to, away from the ancient times but as the New-age commandment, at least to selflessly-Love (agapao) one another.
6. And this is the command, at least to walk according to His selfless-LOVE (agape). This mandate is, just as you have heard it from the early stage, so, walk, at least in it.
7. Because many imposters/tempters have entered into the world, who do not acknowledge that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. These ones are deceivers and anti-christ (opponents of the Lord).
8. Take heed/take a look at your own self; not to be fully receiving/enjoying a full reward/salary, but, to lose what you have at least laboured for.
Beware of anti-Lord people
9. Because, all the people who have gone ahead/preceded Christ did not abide in the teaching, and did not hold on to the things of God. But, those who dwell in this teaching, have the FATHER and the SON.
10. If any person comes towards you, and do not bear this teaching, do not receive him into (your) house, and do not say "CHEER" to him.
11. For, those who say to him 'cheer' will partake of his evil works.
Conclusion: greetings to children of Martha in the Lord and to her sister Mary
12. I have many things and not willing to write to you through sheets of paper and black (ink); but I hope to come towards you, and preach mouth to mouth, at least, for our joy to be fully filled.
13. Greetings to your Children (little Christians) and your chosen Sister. (So be it/Amen)
