Prov 1
Proverbs of Solomon (peaceful), the Son of David (loving), a king in Isreal -
to know utterances of wisdom - and to mentally discern instructions of understanding -
even to receive corrections and act intelligently on verdicts of uprightness and Justification -
even if others are trickery, to give a Naive/gullible young man, knowledge for his plans/invention.
if heard attentively, the wise will add more to his doctrine/teachings - and will understand - to get guidance (for his goal).
the wise will understand the proverbs, and the aphorism/statement of general truth/idea - and the spoken words of riddles/maxims.
These are words of David, preparing Solomon for the throne.
First of all, wisdom is reverence to Jehovah and HIS instruction and knowledge, while the perversed ones will despise them.
My son, listen to the instructions of your father and mother as it is left in the LAW (Torah).
Ornaments/wreath around your head and necklace around your throat/neck is by grace.
My Son, sinners/criminals are willing to entice you,
they will say, walk down to lie in ambush for blood even to ambush the innocent without cause (gratis),
so that, sheol/hades will swallow up the living - and the blameless will go down into the pit -
just to fill their house with expensive booty - and find wealth,
their fate/lot will fall into a cup altogether.
My Son, refrain from walking down on their way, even your feet in their route.
their feet run into evil hasten to shed blood.
they toss/scatter nets without cause, even in the eyes/sight of their master;
they lie in ambush for blood and hide for souls;
their masters receives the plunder/gains they plundered from souls on the road.
the smart and intelligent ones are shouting outside - and give their voice in their streets -
calling out to the heads/chiefs by their doors, and making a loud sound, at the gate of the city, asking with the (following) utterances - -
why are the gullible ones love silly things? And scorners delight in mocking. Why the fools hate knowledge?
If they return, THE SPIRIT will be poured out on them to know HIS spoken words of correction;
having stretched out hands and call out to them, and they are unwilling to hearken
for they are willing to be loosened/free from HIS counsel and corrections -
laughing and mocking while sudden alarm and misfortune is coming,
and as sudden alarm and misfortune arrived, then (devastation) of tempest and whirlwind come - with coming of trouble and anguish:
then they shall get up early to find by calling out to be answered -
they had chosen to hate knowledge and even the fear/reverence of Jehovah; (ref:1vs7)
they willingly scorn/blaspheme counsel and correction.
now, they are to eat the fruit of their own counsel/purpose because they were satiated with their own way.
the gullible ones will be slain and the fool will lose their tranquility/security because of their backsliding/apostasy.
so listen attentively for you to dwell in safety, and be at ease from dread of evil.
