Heb 11

A comprehensive Lecture on Faith (Persuasion). 

Definition of Faith and its characteristics

1 Moreover, Faith is a support/underlying reality to hope for/expect a practical matter/pragmatic occurence, without looking at a refutation/proof (evidence/audit/check).

2 because, by this thing (faith), the older persons/Elders (presbyters) testified 

3 by Faith, we exercise mind on the utterances (Rhema) of God unto thorough framing (preparing, mending) of the ages, to become lightened/visible out from things not seen. 

Men of faith will surely testify 

4 by Faith, Abel offered up a more quality sacrifice to God besides Cain; through which, we testified, he was righteous. We also testify upon his gift to God, and having died, we still preach on account of him.

5 by Faith, Enoch was transferred/changed, not to see death, and he was not found, on account that God transfered/changed him; because prior to the change of position/transposition, we testified that he was well pleased to God. (Gen 5:2) 

God is the Employer of men of faith

6 however, the weak ones are without the Faith, to be well pleased to God. Because, you must believe that HE Exists and draw near to HIM and HE becomes the salary PAYER/Rewarder of those who seek after HIM.

7 By Faith, Noah was divinely instructed concerning things to be seen and even of certainty (not even to gainsay), he was reverent to thoroughly construct a box (Ark) unto salvation of his households; through which the world was condemned, and he became heir according to Justification by Faith.

8 by Faith, Abraham was called to proceed unto a place, he is about to receive unto inheritance, and he obeyed by proceeding forth, without understanding where he is going.

9 by Faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as a foreign land; with Isaac and Jacob, his joint-heirs of the same promise, residing in tents.

10 for, (they are) looking/waiting for a city, whose the originator/makers and the artisans (technicians) of the foundation, hold on to God.

11 by Faith, (barren) Sarah, as commanded/led, in spite of the time of her age; she received miracle unto an offspring for their foundation, since Faithful is HE, WHO has promised. (Rom 4:19)

12 in spite of being as though rendered dead, an innumerable multitude were born through this one (offspring) , just as stars of the sky and sands of the sea shore.

Men of Faith got a big picture 

13 by Faith, all of these persons died and did not receive the promise, but they clearly discern and salute/welcome it from afar, and according to them, they professed that they were strangers and pilgrims upon the earth.

14 because, as said, they exhibit/manifest such a one that is searching for a native-country/father's land.

15 And if these ones at a time indeed remember an exit/escape, they might possibly have turned back, away from what they hold on to. 

16 however, they reach out/yearn after a better city, For they invoke/call on their God and were not ashamed of God. By this reason, heavenly one is now made ready for them now.

Good combination of Faith and the work of selfless-love with Inference of possibility of resurrection. 

17 by Faith, Abraham was tested to offered up Isaac; he presented his only-begotten, to receive back the one promised. 

18 toward whom, it was preached, in Isaac shall your offsprings be called forth; (Gen 21:12) 

19 and from there on, they carried away a thing and reckoned it in a parable, that God can raise them again from the dead.

Faith sees the reality of the future now

20 And by Faith, even Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, concerning things to come.

21 by Faith, at utmost end, a dying Jacob, blessed each son of Joseph, and worshipped upon his staff.

22 by Faith, Joseph, remember things concerning the exodus of the children of Israel, and gave instruction about his bones as he was ending up life.

Self-Denial in Faith 

23 by Faith, Moses, was born and was hid three months by his father, on account that, they saw the child to be funny/comical; and were not afraid of the decree/edicts of the king.

24 by Faith, the mega part is that, Moses, happened to reject being called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;

25 he rather prefers, being maltreated together with the people of God, to, having a temporary enjoyment in sin;

26 for, the one who would have been governing (with official authority) over the great wealth of Egypt's treasures (land of Nile), look away from the reproach because of the compensation of being an anointed one (Messiah/Christ).

Faith relates with the invisible

27 By Faith, he left Egypt, because he was afraid of the fierceness of the king; and never care/be held back, as though he has clearly discerned the ONE WHO is INVISIBLE.

28 By faith, they obeyed the Passover and sprinkling of the blood, at least, the one that destroy first born would not touch/pinch them.

Testimonies of Victory by Faith of older generation 

29 By Faith, they crossed over the (reed) Sea, as it were a dry land; through which the Red-Egyptians took an attempt and were drowned.

30 By Faith, the wall of Jericho was circulated upon seven days, and it fell down.

31 by Faith, Rahab the prostitute, did not perish together with the unbelieving ones, for she accepted the scouts/spies with peace.

Men of faith are men of fame and Honor 

32 And what should I still say? For the space of time is insufficient to fully tell, about Gideon, Barak (with Deborah), Samson, Jephthah, Samuel, David, in addition to the Prophets;

33 who through Faith, subdued kingdoms, shut the mouth of lion, make preparations to effect Justification, labor for the promise;

34 quench fire; empowered to flee from the mouth of dirk/short-swords, and mighty in warfare, generate mighty-deeds from feebleness, recline/bow down the army of aliens, 

Persecution of older generation like newer generation for their Faith

35 others who had not welcome full-redemption, were drummed/tortured (on timpani), at least to attain a better resurrection, however, their wives will receive them out of the dead by resurrection.

36 moreover, attempts of mocking and whipping, also of chains and imprisonment were still taken on different others (hetero);

37 tempted with murder, stoned, died by plugging in dirk/short-sword, wandered around apple trees in goat-leather, being destitute, troubled and maltreated;

38 roamed about upon desert, caves of mountains and holes of the earth; to whom the world is not worthy, 

39 and these ones, who have testified to all through Faith, did not obtain the promise;

40 God has foreseen/planned something better concerning us, at least, never without us should it be consummated.
