Heb 5
Paul continues to expound on the priesthood of Jesus: the High-priest in Judaism religion
1 No doubt, all high-priests, ordained over men, receive gifts and even animal-sacrifices from the men, at least, to be offered up towards God for the sake of (their) sins;
2 who should be able to exercise forbearance/to be moderate, with ignorant (people) who have gone astray, since, those who are lying all around him are with weaknesses.
3 - and by this reason, just as it concerns people, likewise also concerning himself, he must offer (sacrifices) concerning sins.
4 and someone could not receive the honour by himself, but those called by God, just as Aaron also.
The non levitical-Priesthood of Jesus was established in the scripture
5 And likewise, Christ did not magnified Himself to become the High Priest; but by the one who preached towards Him, You are MY Son, I beget You, this day. (Ps 2:7)
6 Even just as it was said in another: You are a Priest unto ages according to the classs/order of Melchizedek (the last long-lived patriarch); (Ps 110:4)
God always listen to prayers
7 (Jesus) Whom, in the days of His flesh, offered up a petition with outcry and tears, and even a supplication, out of devotion/reverence, towards the POWERFUL ONE, WHO can save Him from death, and He was heard/LISTENED to. (Lk 22:43, Matt 26:53)
8 Although, He is a Son, He suffered by obedience; away from Whom we should learn.
9 and having completed it, He becomes the agent/causer (author) of eternal salvation to all who will obey Him,
10 and addressed/proposed by God, to be High Priest, according to the class/order of Melchizedek; (Ps 110:4)
Paul cautioned baby-students, who misconstrued his words especially about Melchizedec (to be cont. in Heb 7)
11 (Melchizedek) concerning whom, I have spoken and many people mis-interpreted/mal-translated the words, since they happened to be sluggish in hearing.
12 for even you, who ought to be teachers, through a space of time, has become those who have need of milk, and not a solid food. Again, someone have need to teach you, even the ancient times, serial-contituents/items of the sayings/oracles of God.
13 for, everybody who partake of milk are inexperienced in the matter of JUSTIFICATION; no doubt, they are nepios (infants);
14 but solid nourishment is for the mature full age ones, who through habit/constant practice, they have sensory organs, (which are) trained (exercised) towards a discernment/distinguishing between virtuous things and evil things.
