Acts Chapter 1

Introduction 

The record of the Acts of the Holy Spirit through the Apostles and the holy-saints - unto WHOM Apostles craved for and Angels lean over or stoop down to observe in action (1Pet1:12), - was penned down by Luke for the benefit of informing Governor Theophilus and others. The first record of Luke (Gospels according to Luke) is a biography of what Jesus did and taught, while the Book of Acts is the account of what the Messengers of the gospel of Jesus did and taught by instrumentality of the Holy Spirit, WHO is the secret of their success. Their mistakes, and challenges were not left out. The book probably was written in A.D 61, since Paul arrived at Rome about A.D 59.

Act 1

Luke introduced the book to Governor Theophilus 

1 Oh Theophilus (friend of God), the first account/words I did was concerning all things, which Jesus indeed, began to do and teach.

2 until the day which the Apostles, who have been chosen, are commanded to take over through the HOLY-SPIRIT, 

3 having suffered on account of many things, He presented Himself ALIVE, with indisputable EVIDENCE and Who was seen among them for FORTY (40) days, saying things concerning the kingdom of God.

The Promise of the HOLY-SPIRIT is for all

4 And he commanded them to assemble together, and not to separate but to stay around Jerusalem for the PROMISE of the FATHER. From what I heard;

5 John indeed baptized (fully wet) with water; however, you will be baptized in the HOLY SPIRIT (be overwhelmed in great measure). but HE is not with many (people) by that day (cf: Mary in Lk 1:35)

6 therefore, those who came together asked Him, saying, Lord, if You are indeed restoring this kingdom to Israel, in what space of time will it be?

7 He told them, it is not for you to know indeed, the space of time in which the FATHER has set it, or the due time in HIS own authority.

8 but the Holy SPIRIT will supervene/come upon you, and having received the miraculous Power (Lk 1:35), you will be My Witnesses, in Jerusalem, and Judea, and Samaria, and among all people, even until the latter end of the earth.

Jesus Christ ascends to heaven 

9 And having said these, they are looking at Him, being raised up/exalted and clouds carried Him upward (take Him from under), away from their eyes.

10 And as He traveled, they were looking intently into the heaven, and behold, two, in white clothing, were standing beside the fellow-men,

11 to whom they said, fellow Galileans men, why are you standing still, looking into the sky? This Jesus, Who has been taken up from you into heaven, will likewise come in the mode you see Him traveling into heaven.

Disciples return from Galilee and Enter the Prayer room in Jerusalem with one prayer point (50-47=3 days to Pentecost) 

12 By holding on to things they were called out for, they were on the way for sabbath week (7 days) unto mount Olive near Jerusalem, from which they could return at any time to Jerusalem.

13 And when they entered in, they went up to the upper room, where Peter in addition to John and James and Andrew, Phillip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Mathew, James, a son of Alphaeus and Simon, a zealous one, and Judah, son of Jacob are to fully stay.

14 All these men, together with their brethren, were to persevere unanimously in oratory prayer, together with women, and Moriah-maria the mother of Jesus.

The election of Matthias to replace Judah Iscariot. 

15 And on a day, this Peter stood up in the midst of the brethren and even people of name are upon the same (place), about a hundred and twenty, saying:

16 fellow-men and brethren, scripture must be fulfiled, which the Holy Spirit has spoken beforehand through the mouth of David, about Judah (Iscariot), who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus;

17 for he was listed/numbered among us, and was alloted a part in this ministry.

18 then, he happened to lean forward/lie prostrate, burst asunder midway and all his bowel (splanchna) indeed gush out, and a plot of ground was acquired from wages of injustice of this man. 

19 and it becomes well known to all dwellers in Jerusalem, in so much that the plot of ground is called in their own dialect; akeldama, that is, field of blood.

20 for it is written in the book of psalm: his habitation will become desert, and no one person will reside in it; (Ps 69:25) and, his bishopric office, another will take. (Ps 109:8)

21 therefore, we must assemble together, fellow-men, - who in the space of time, the Lord Jesus, was entering in and going out among everybody, - have been with us.

22 beginning away from the baptisma of John, until the day He was taken up away from us; this person who is to become one of the witnesses of His resurrection together with us.

23 And they call forth two persons to stand: Joseph surnamed BarSabbas (son that pleases), and Matthias (gift of Jah) who is Justus.

24 and they make prayer, saying, oh You, Lord, the HEART-KNOWER of all, show which one is chosen, out of these two,

25 to take the place of this apostleship from the ministry in which Judah (Iscariot) went contrary, and departed unto his own place.

26 And they gave lot on them, and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was enrolled with the eleven Apostles.
