 Mathew 16

Seekers of irrational signs come again after Matt 12:39

1 And the Pharisees and Saduceess approach Him, to tempt Him, asking Him to show them a wonder from heaven.

2 So, He answers and tells them, because, the sky is flaming reddish, as it happens to be evening: you do say, it is a blissful weather (eudia). 

3 And at dawn,  because, the sky is downcast and flaming-reddish, it is winter/stormy day: You know about discerning from the appearance of sky, but you are not able  for the signs of times. What indeed, hypocrites you are! 

4 Generation of evil and adulterous one are seeking for signs, and no sign will be given to them, except the sign of (prophet) Jonah. And He leaves them behind and go away.

Beware of mind blowing but enslaving teachings

5 And the disciples come to the other side, forgetting to take bread.

6 Jesus tells them, discern and be cautious of the leavened things of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

7 However, they reason in themselves, saying, because we do not take bread.

8 So, Jesus knows, and says, why reason you in yourselves, little-believers (lacking confidence), is it because you do not take bread?

9 Certainly/no gainsay; by exercising your mind, can't you remember five loaves for five thousands, and how many small baskets you received?

10 not even, seven loaves for four thousands, and how many receptacles you received?

11 How is it, that you can't exercise your mind, that I do not speak to you about loaves of bread, but to be cautious from the leaven things of the Pharisees and Sadducees?

12 At this time, they understand that He is not speaking, from the leavened bread, but to be cautious from the instructions of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.

Peter answers a question: Who is Jesus?

13 Moreover, as Jesus comes into the division of the men of Caesarea-Philippi, He asks His disciples, saying, who do children of Adam say I Am? 

14 more so, some indeed say, John the baptizer; others also, Elijah; moreover others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.

15 He asks them, but, who do you say I Am?

16 however, Simon Peter answers and says, You are the CHRIST, the SON of the LIVING-GOD.

17 So, Jesus answers and tells him, you are supremely blessed, oh Simon BarJona! Because, you have revealed what is not of flesh and of blood, but of My FATHER Who is in heaven.

18 However, as I also have told you, that you are Peter (Petrus: a piece of rock), build My Church (people called out by Christ), (who are) the mass of rocks (Petra) even upon these things and the gate of hades (world of the dead) will not overpower them.

19 you will be given the key to the kingdom of heaven; and perhaps whatever you bind on earth, will be bound in heaven; and whatever perhaps you loosen on earth, shall be loosened in heaven.

20 At the time He was expandings/dilating this, His disciples, at least, speak not even one thing, because, He is the CHRIST to them. 

Jesus predicts His death but Peter, with respect, admonish against it

21 From that time, Jesus starts to show His disciples that, it is necessary for Him to go away to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the Sahendrists and Chief-Priests and Scribes, and be killed, and rise up again on the third day.

22 And Peter took Him aside, and start to admonish Him (based on evaluation), saying, the SUPREME God will propitious to You (in averting calamity); no, never will this thing be unto You.

23 But, He turns around, and tells Peter, withdraw behind Me! You are a stumbling block to Me, because, men don't exercise mind on things of God, but of satan.

24 At that time, Jesus tells His disciples, if anyone chooses to come behind Me, he must utterly deny himself, and take up his stake, and follow Me.

25 because, whoever in case desires to save souls may lose his, and whoever possibly lost his soul, on account of Me, it will be found for him. (Matt 10:39)

26 because what will it profit a man, if he win the whole world, and forfeit his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 No doubt, the Son is about to come to men in the glory of His FATHER, with His Angels (messengers), and then, repay everyone according to their deeds.

28 I tell you, and so shall it be, some will be standing here, who will not at all, taste death until the Son will possibly come to men and they will see Him in His kingdom (of one thousand years reign).
