Roman chapter 13

Rom 13

Be submissive to local authorities/governments

1 All souls should submit to the superior authority. For there is no authority existing except under God; so, they are instituted under God.

2 Therefore those who are rebellious to authority are opposing the arrangement of God; and those opposing will receive judgment on themselves.

3 for the Rulers are not terror to those of good works but of evil. So, do you desire, not to be frightened by the Authorities? Do good things, and you will have praise from them.

4 because, they are ministers/deacons of God to you, unto good things. However, in case, you do evil, you will be afraid, because, they are not bearing the short sword (of judicial punishment) in vain: for, they are servants of God, the avenger unto wrath on those practising evil.

5 by this reason, it is a necessity to be subjected, not only because of the wrath, but even because of the moral co-perception. 

6 no doubt, by this reason, we pay up the tributes (taxes); for they are public-servant of God, and they attend assiduously unto these things.

7 pay all their dues: tax to whom is the tolls on goods; terminal levy, to whom is the levy,  reverence to whom is reverence; honor to whom is honor. 

We are debtors of selfless Love to all people 

8 Owe no one nothing, except to selflessly-Love one another; for, those who selflessly-love another person, have fully satisfied/fulfilled law.

9 because: do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not covet (Ex 20:23-15) - even if there is other certain things in the commandment, it is summed up in these words: Selflessly-Love (Agapao) your neighbor as your yourself. (Lev 29:18).

10 selfless-Love will never engage in evil things to neighbours; therefore, selfless-love is the completion (fullness) of law.

Wake up, because of the brevity of time

11 And be aware of that set-time, that the hour is even now. Wake up out of your sleep; for, our salvation is now nearer, than when we believe.

12 the night is far gone, and daytime has drawn near; therefore, put away the work of darkness, and put on (attacking) armour of the Light.

13 As in the daytime, you should walk decently; not in revelry/being loose in intoxication, not in cohabitation (coitus) even of ungodliness/incontinence, not in quarrel and envy.

14 But, put on/be investitured with the things of the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will not make forethought/provisions unto the lusts of the flesh.
