Acts 12

Herod persecuted the Christians and killed James (John's brother) 

1 Moreover, with respect to that time, King Herod stretches forth his hand to hurt certain persons from the Church.

2 but, he has murdered James, the brother of John, with dirk/short-sword.

3 however, it was by the days of unleavened bread, and seeing that, it was pleasing to the Jews, he arrested Peter, to add up;

4 whom he also seized, and delivered to quarternion of four soldiers, to be put and guarded in prison, and was willing to lead him out to the people, amid passover. 

Angelic rescue of Peter from Herod

5 Peter indeed was kept in prison. However, there happened to be an extensive oratory-prayer by the Church towards God concerning him.

6 So, when Herod was about to bring him forward, Peter was sleeping that night, bound with chains, between two soldiers, and two guards are in front of the gate watching the prison.

7 Behold, a light shine in the jail and an Angel of the Lord stood by him, tap Peter by the side, wake him up, saying, rise up quickly. And the chain fell off from his hands.

8 Moreover, the Angel says to him, put on your dress, belt up, and put on your sandals. Having done it, he likewise says, follow me.

9 And got out, following him, not knowing that, what has happened through the Angel was true; thinking he was looking at a vision.

10 so, they traveled through the first and the second prison, and proceeded forth, to come upon the iron gates, which carry one unto the street of the city. It automatically open up and the Angel who went before him, departed at once from him.

11 And Peter happened to be by himself, and says, now I know, that the Lord truly dispatch His Angel (on a mission), and release me out of the hand of Herod, and all the expectations of Judea people.

12 in addition, he went upon the house of Moriah maria, the mother of John, who is surnamed Mark (Marcus), where capable/competent ones who realized together to make prayer convened.

13 so, he knocks the doors of the gate; and a girl named Rhoda (rose) approach to listen attentively,

14 And having recognized the voice of Peter, she did not open it because of joy, but she ran inside, to announce that, Peter was standing in front of the gate.

15 so, they say towards her, you are raving. But by being assertive and holding on to it, this way, they say, it is his Angel.

16 Moreover, Peter stay knocking; however, on opening, they saw him, and they were amazed.

17 so, he makes a sign to them by hand, to be silent, and fully relate to them, how the Lord brings him out of the prison. And he said, report these things to Jacob and the Brethren. So, he proceeds forth, and travel to another place.

18 Moreover, by daytime, there happens to be, no small disturbance/tumult among the soldiers, ara (a heartfelt worry lifted to heaven) what has become of Peter.

19 Moreover, Herod orders to lead away the guards to be questioned. They search for him, and never found him, for he has gone down from Judea to Caesarea to tarry.

Herod was destroyed alive 

20 Moreover, people of Tyre and of Sidonians had been furiously fighting; and Blastus, who is upon the king bed-chambers, persuaded them from their region, to come near for peace, and unanimous crave towards being fed/nourished through royal-noblemen.

21 however, on a set day, Herod, put on his royal garments, settle down upon the judgment seat, making an address towards them,

22 So, the public (demos-municipality) exclaim: what a voice of god, and not of man!

23 Howbeit, for not giving glory to the Supreme Lord, instead of which, the Angel of God struck him, and became vermin/worm-eaten, besides his riches, and he gave-up the ghost .

24 however, those who are of God increase and grow by the word.

Barnabas and Saul returned to Jerusalem the second time, continued from Act 11:30 (about 14 years of Saul's call- this is 2COR 12:2 & Gal 2:1) 

25 Moreover, BarNabas and (P)Saul returned unto Jerusalem, taking John surnamed Mark along to fulfill the ministration/relief-service.
