Luke 16

Parable of a lord and his dismissed but smart business-manager, who show mercy by forgiving the debts of his friends as freebies/mid-year bonus

1 Moreover, He says even to the disciples, a certain man who is rich, and has a manager. This man was slandered to him, as it were, to be wasting his possessions.

2 And addressing him, he says, why am I hearing these words about you? I will pay you, but you will not be able to still manage the administration.

3 So, the manger say within himself, what is to be done? For my lord, is removing the administration from me? I can not dig, and I'm ashamed of begging.

4 I know what to do, at least when removed from stewardship, for them to accept me unto their households.

5 And he summons each one of his lord's debtors, asking the foremost (debtor), how much do you owe my lord?

6 and he says, a hundred baths (8 gallons each) of olive oil. So, he says, accept your document and settle down quickly to write fifty.

7 Then, to another he says, and you, how much do you owe? And he says, hundred measures (12 bushel each) of wheat. And he says, accept your document (grammar) and write eighty.

8 And his lord commends the manager, because he has done prudently (thoughtfully). Because the sons of this age, are thoughtful of their own generation, (which is) unto unfairness/injustice to the sons of light.

What Jesus says about money 

9 And I tell you, do things for your own friends, out of the unfairness (injustice) of mammon (deified wealth), at least, when excluded/abandoned/(left out), you will be accepted into their eternal habitation.

10 Those who are faithful in little, will also be faithful in much; and those who are unjust in little, will also be unjust (unfair) in much.

11 therefore, if you happen not to be faithful in the unfair deified-wealth (mammon), who will believe you on what is truthful?

12 if you happen not to be faithful to your own (people), how (will) you even give things to strangers?

13 No servant can serve two lords, no doubt, he will either hate one, and love the other; or be devoted to one, and despised the other. You can not serve God, and mammon (deified wealth).

14 however, the Pharisees heard all these things, and being sub-rulers who are stingy (fond of money), they sneer at it. 

The Pharisees, the law and the kingdom of God 

15 And He tells them, your own things that are exalted/lofty before men are abomination before God. But, your God WHO knows things in your heart is the ONE WHO will justify men.

16 the law (of Moses) has been from the prophets of the past time up to John. And as the good news of the kingdom of God is announced, even all the people will crowd (forces) themselves into it.

17 however, it is easier for the sky to fall down on the earth, than for one least particle (apostrophe) of the law to pass away.

Jesus' position on an aspect of divorce issue without a document backing it as stipulated in Moses' law (Matt 5:32, Mk 10:4)

18 Everyone who divorces his wife and marry another commits adultery. And the divorced (woman) from husband who marries, commits adultery.

The Story of the rewards of a merciless and stingy rich-man versus a very poor but righteous-man (Lazarus) (note: this is not a parable) 

19 Moreover, there had been a certain wealthy man, who brilliantly/radiantly wears purple (red blue coloured) and white linen, making merry throughout his days.

20 But, a certain beggar, by name Lazarus (Elazar), sick of ulcer/wounds, was being thrown towards his gateway. 

21 and he set his heart upon being fed from crumbs away from the table of the wealthy-man. But even the dogs (kuon) would come to lick his ulcer.

22 however, the beggar happened to die, and Angels brings him into Abraham bosom. The wealthy-man also dies, but was buried.

23 And in hades, he raised up his eyes, being a sub-ruler among touchstone (being tried for purity), and discerned Abraham from far away, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 And he cried out to say, father Abraham, have mercy on me, and dispatch Lazarus, at least, to dip (bapto) the tip of his finger in water, and cool down my tongue; for I am in pain of the flame.

25 but Abraham said, child, remember that you fully-receive your good things and Lazarus, similarly, your worthless/bad things. But now, he is here comforted by Zoe-Life but you are grieving.

26 And upon all these, a great gulf is resolutely fixed between us and you, those who are willing to pass through here to you anyhow can not, and not even to cross over from there to us.

27 So, he says, I request from you then, father, at least, to dispatch him unto my father's household,

28 for, I have five brothers, he will bl earnestly testify to them any how, at least not to come even to this place of torture.

29 however, Abraham says, they have Moses and the prophets: they should listen to them.

30 And he says, not indeed, father Abraham, but in case someone from the dead goes towards them, they will repent.

31 he however says, if they don't listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced even in case, someone is raised up from the dead.
