Luke 22

The Plans to kill Jesus

1 Moreover, the feast of unleavened bread, called Passover, draw near.

2 And the chief Priests and Scribes are seeking how to take Him up; however, they fear the people.

3 But, satan enters into Judah, who is called Iscariot (of keriote) being a number out of the twelve (disciples).

4 And he goes away, to commune with the chief-Priests and the military captain, on how to betray Him to them.

5 And they rejoice, and consent to give him money.

6 And as acknowledged/professed, he seeks for opportunity to betray Him to them, in the absence of the crowd.

Disciples prepare the passover (as Jesus gave counsel on the location of the place) 

7 So, the day of unleavened bread in which the Passover (Lamb) must be sacrificed is coming.

8 And He sends Peter and John, and says, go forth to prepare the Passover for us, at least, to eat.

9 But, they tell Him, where do you want it to be prepared?

10 So, He tells them, behold, as you will enter into the city, you will meet a man, carrying a jar of water; follow him into the house into which he will enter;

11 And you will tell the master of the house, the Teacher says to you, where is the guest-room, in which place, I will eat the Passover with My disciples?

12 And he will show you a large upper-room, furnished; there, you will prepare.

13 so, they go away, and find it as He told them; and they prepare the Passover.

Jesus established New covenant remembrance with bread and wine 

14 And it happens to be, at that hour, He sits down at the table, and the (twelve) apostles together with Him;

15 And He says to them, in longing, I have longed to eat this Passover with you, before I suffer.

16 no doubt, I tell you, I will not at all, eat thereof, until and while the kingdom of God is fulfilled.

17 And He takes a cup, and expressed gratitude, and says, receive this, and share unto yourselves.

18 No doubt, I tell you, I will not at all, drink, of the vine from now , until the offsprings by birth from God come to the kingdom.

19 And He takes a loaf of bread, gavd thanks, and break it, and gave them, saying, this is for My body, given for your sake; do this in My remembrance (ava-mne-sis).

20 And likewise a cup, amid the supper-feast, and he says, this is for the cup/fate of My blood, shed for your sake in the New-Age Covenant (testament). 

21 Nevertheless, behold, the hand to betray Me is with Me on the table;

22 For, the Son indeed is going as it is designated. Notwithstanding, alas to that man, through whom He will be  betrayed to men.

23 And they begin to discuss this jointly towards themselves, Ara (a heartfelt aghast to heaven), who he might be out of them, that intend to carry this out.

JESUS lead as example of a servant-leader 

24 Moreover, a dispute happens to be within them; thinking of who is to be the greatest of them?

25 So, He tells them, kings exercise lordship over their heathen-nations, and authorize to be called their benefactor/philanthropist.

26 However, you are not that way; but the greatest within you, will happen to be as he were the younger person who lead/command as the one serving.

27 who indeed, is the greatest; the one sitting at the table or the one serving? Is it not indeed the one sitting at the table, but, I am in your midst as the One serving.

Jesus announces the greatest reward of the disciples instead of being title-drunk 

28 Moreover, you are the ones, who stay constantly with Me, in My trials.

29 And I will make available (to) you, a kingdom, as My FATHER has made it available (to) Me;

30 at least, to eat and drink upon My table in My kingdom; and to settle down upon thrones, to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.

Jesus predicted Peter will deny knowing Him

31 (the Lord says), Simon, Simon, behold, satan demand to sift you as wheat;

32 But, I have prayed concerning you, at least, your Faith will not cease/disappear; and when you return, establish your brethren to be set resolutely in one direction.

33 However, he says, Lord, I am ready to go unto imprisonment and unto death with You. 

34 But, He says, I tell you Peter, cock will not crow this day, until you deny knowing Me, three times.

Jesus assures Christians of blessings but should be well equipped before going on duty

35 And He tells them, while I sent you without pocket-money, and food-bag, and sandals, did you lack some things? And they say, No, (we lack) not even one thing.

36 So, He tells them, but now, the one who have pocket-money should carry it, likewise with food-bag; and the one who have no small-sword, sell your garments and buy;

37 for, I tell you this, things concerning Me, have a definite set-goal and must be accomplished by Me; as it is written, he is reckoned/counted among lawless (anomos) ones (Is 53:12)

38 So, they say, Lord, behold, here are two small-swords, and He says to them, you are experts (hikanons) 

JESUS Prayed at Gethsemane separately and His prayer was heard (note: not all the eleven went there) 

39 Moreover, as they travel, He proceeds forth, according to usual custom, unto mount olive; and the disciples also follow Him,

40 So, as they happen to be upon the place, He told them, make prayer, not to enter into trial.

41 And He withdraws away from them, about a stone throw-distance, and lay on His knees, making prayer.

42 saying, if YOU are willing, FATHER, remove this cup away from Me; notwithstanding, not by My desire/choice, but YOURS will happen.

43 Moreso, Angels from heaven, are clearly discerned by Him to invigorate Him. (Matt 26:53, Heb 5:7)

44 And He happens to be in agony, making prayer more earnestly, and His sweat become as it were a thickened blood, falling down upon the earth.

45 And He stands up from the oratory-prayer, and goes towards His disciples, to find them sleeping away from sadness.

46 And He tells them, why are you falling asleep? Stand up and make prayer, at least not to enter into temptation/trial.

Betrayal and the arrest of Jesus as Peter wanted to fight

47 as He was still speaking, behold, one of the twelve called Judah (iscariote) goes before a crowd, and he draw near even unto Jesus to show affection to Him.

48 So, Jesus tells Him, Judah, why a kiss to betray the Son to men?

49 however, having discerned what will be, concerning Him, they ask the Lord, if they should strike by their dirks/short-swords?

50 So, a certain person from them strikes one servant of the high-Priest, and cut-off his right-ear.

51 But, Jesus responded, permit this thing until I speak! And He touches/attaches the ear, and heal him.

52 Jesus also says to the Captains and the Chief Priests of the temple and Sahendrists, who came out upon Him; why do you proceed forth with short-swords and clubs as it were upon robbers?

53 I was with you throughout the day in the temple, but you did not stretch-forth hand upon Me; but this is your hour and by the authority of darkness.

Peter renounced Jesus and wept bitterly 

@Tuesday night

54 so, having arrested and lead Him away, they bring Him into the house of the High-Priest. And Peter, follows from a distance.

55 Moreover, they set up a fire in the middle of the courtyard, and take a seat together, And Peter sits in their midst.

56 So, a certain female-servant sit down towards the light and sees him, and gaze intently on him, saying, even this one has been with Him.

57 But, he denies, saying, woman, I don't know Him.

58 And within a short time, another man sees him, saying, even you are away from Him. Peter also says, I am not.

59 And about space of one hour, another certain-person insists, saying, upon the truth even this one has been with Him; and, no doubt, he is a Galilean.

60 But Peter says, man, I don't know what you are saying. And as he is still preaching, a cock freely crows.

61 And the Lord turns around, and looks on Peter; and Peter remembers the word of the Lord, how He says that, before cock would crow this day, you will renounce Me three times.

62 And he proceeds outside, and wept bitterly.

Jesus was mocked and beaten

63 And the fellow-men continue to mock Him and beat Him.

64 they even blindfold Him, + beat his face + and ask, by saying, prophesy, who is the one hitting You?

65 and many people speak to another to blaspheme Him.

Jesus was tried and condemned by Jewish council

@ same Tuesday night. (a paradox day of victory) 

66 And as it were daytime, the Presybyters of people, Chief-Priests and in addition, the Scribes happen to gather together, and lead Him away into their joint session, saying,

67 if You are the christ, tell us. So, He said to them, in case I tell you, you will not at all, have Faith;

68 in case, I also request, you will not at all respond (or fully-release Me). 

69 But, away from now, the Son will settle down out of the Right Hand of God by power for men.

70 So, all of them therefore says, are You the Son of God? However, he make his thoughts known to them; because it was said to you by Me.

71 So, they say, why are we still having need of a witness? For, we have heard it, from His mouth.
