Mark Chapter 1

Introduction 

Mark, also called John Mark is a sibling of BarNabas, he was the cause for the altercation between Paul and BarNabas. The source of his account is purely from Peter (1Pet 5:13), written about A.D 67. There is no record of genealogy of Jesus, because, that was a proof from Paul in his effort to convince the Jews that Jesus is the coming Messiah to sit on the throne of David as the future King of Israel. Mark presents Jesus as an action leader with his use of the word 'immediately' and was very very brief by not elaborating so much on some account in the biography of Jesus. 

Note: Nero persecution was in A.D 64. And Jerusalem destruction was in AD 70.

Mark 1

John the baptizer, prepared the mind of people ahead of Jesus

1 By the early stages of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God:

2 as, it was written by prophet Isaiah, behold, I send my messenger before your appearance, who will thoroughly prepare your way;(Mal 3:1),

3 and the shout in the desert, with a voice: prepare the way of the Supreme God, make HIS paths straight; (Is 40:3), 

4 John happens to be baptizing (total immersion in water as a ceremonial ablution) in the desert, and preach the repentance unto freedom from sin.

5. And all the Judean regions proceeded to him, and those of Jerusalem, confessing (exomologeo) their sins and all were baptized under him in River Jordan. 

6. John who was clothed in a leather of camel and a hairy thick-belt around his loin; eat wild/feral-locusts and honey.

7 he preaches and say, the One, who is Mighty is coming after me, Whom I am not a competent one for Him to stoop down, and loosen the strap of His sandals.

8 I, baptize/immerse you (in) water, but, He will baptize or (overwhelm) you in Holy SPIRIT.

After John baptizes Jesus, Holy SPIRIT overwhelm/baptize Him

9. And it happened that, in that day, Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee, came and was baptized in Jordan under John.

10. And immediately, as He ascend out of the water, He is aware of sky/heaven, split open, and the SPIRIT in the manner of a pigeon, descend into Him.

11. And a voice was generated, out of heaven, You Are MY Beloved Son, in Whom I AM well pleased.

12. And immediately in the desert, He is unto casting out of spirits. 

13. He was in a desert even for forty days and amid wild-animals. He was also tempted under satan; and Angels do serve/minister to Him.

Jesus preaches in Galilee 

14. Even, amid this, John was delivered up, and Jesus came into Galilee, to preach the gospel of God;

15. saying, the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is approaching; repent (think differently/reconsider) and believe in the gospel.

Four Fishermen called as Disciples

16. And, as He passes around the sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, who is Simon's brother; throwing (fishing net) into the sea; no doubt, they are fishermen.

17. And Jesus tells them, come here behind Me, and I will make you to become Fishers of men.

18 And immediately, they left their net, to follow Him.

19. And as He advances further a little, He is aware of James, and John his brother, the sons of Zebedee, also mending their nets in a boat.

20. However, He called them, and immediately, they left Zebedee, their father with the hired servants in the boat and went off, following Him.

@ Capernaum Jesus teaches and command demons out with authority 

21. And as He goes into Capernaum;  He immediately enters into the synagogue, on the Sabbath day and teaches. 

22. And they were amazed upon His teaching; for, He has been teaching them as One Who has authority, and not as the Scribes.

23. and a man who has been in their synagogue, screams by an unclean spirit, straightway;

24. saying, why me and You, Jesus, the Nazarene? Why coming to fully destroy me? I am aware of Who You Are. oh, The Holy One of God!

25. And Jesus rebukes it, saying, silent! and depart out of him. 

26 the greatest part is the voice that cried out, as the unclean spirit throws him into convulsion, and comes out from him.

27. And all were amazed, in so much that, they reasoned together towards themselves; what is this new-age doctrine/teaching? He commands even unclean spirits, with authority, and oh! they obey Him.

28. And immediately, His report/fame, spread abroad, everywhere unto all the towns round about Galilee.

Peter's mother-in-law healed of fever

29. And immediately, He proceeds out of the synagogue, and comes into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John, 

30. And the mother in law of Simon was lying down of high temperature. And immediately they told Him about her.

31. He approaches her, and hold her hand and raised her up. And the fever left her, and she serves them. 

Many are healed in the evening of Sabbath day

32. Moreover, it becomes evening, when the Sun is going down, and they carry all those who are having diseases, and those possessed with demons to Him.

33. and everyone in the city were gathered together towards the door.

34. and He ministers healing (therapeuo) to many sick ones and those having diverse of maladies, and cast out many demons, and do not permit them to preach, in that, they know Him (to be the Christ/Messiah). 

35 And very much into the night-time, , He stands up, and proceed out and go away into a desert/solitary place and make prayer, even unto the morning. 

36 And Simon, and those who are with Him, searched for Him.

37 And they find Him, and told Him, oh! everybody is seeking for You.

@ Galilee, Jesus Preaches and instantly cleanses a leper who felt  Jesus would not do it. Compare to Lk 17:12

38. And He told them, we have to move into another town, at least to preach even there; no doubt, I have come forth unto these things.

39. And He comes unto their synagogue, preaching to the whole Galileeans, and casting out demons.

40. And a leper comes towards Him, kneeling down and imploring Him, telling Him, that, provided You CHOOSE (desire), you can cleanse me:

41. And having His bowel yearn (splanchnitheis) or feel sympathy, He stretches forth His hand, touches him, and say, I desire, be cleansed.

42. And immediately, the leprosy (scaliness) went off away from him, and he was cleansed;

43. even by snorting with anger/being overwhelmed with strong emotional response; it was cast out of him immediately. 

He was given the same instructions as in Lk 17:12, but never obey too

44. So, He  says, Behold, do not tell even one man anything. But, depart from here, to show yourself to the High-Priest, and offer up those things which Moses commanded, concerning your cleansing, unto a testimony (something evidential) to them.

45. But, he proceeds forth, and started to publish it to many people and to spread the matter abroad. In somuch that, it is no longer possible for Him to enter into the city openly, however, He was outside in the desert place, and they are going towards Him from every quarters.

(note: this is the only thing that would have given Jesus a good record with the Pharisees and chief priests. But he never do it.)
