Luke Chapter 18

Luke 18

Parable of an ungodly Judge and a widow that have faith in him, and was seeking for his help 

1 Moreover, He tells a parable towards them, that, they must make prayer always, and not to be weak,

2 saying, there has been a certain judge, in a certain city, who do not fear God, and never regard men.

3 Also there had been a widow in that city, who comes to him, saying, vindicate me away from my litigants (opponent in lawsuit).

4 but, he is not willing upon a space of time. So, amid these, he says within himself, even if I do not fear God, nor respect man,

5 because, this widow, by her coming, doubtless, has caused me weariness, I will vindicate her unto her purpose, at least not to be treated roughly. 

6 And the Lord says, hear what the Judge says on a wrongdoing/an injustice.

7 howbeit, won't God execute vindication of His elected ones, who cry toward HIM day and night, even as they are patient/bear long upon HIM?

8 I tell you that, their vindication will be executed in haste. Besides, why has the Son come to men? Ara (a heartfelt call lifted to heaven), for Faith to be found upon the earth. 

Parable of an arrogant law-abiding-Pharisee versus a humble sinner seeking mercy. 

9 Moreover, He speaks this parable, even to some persons who are convinced upon themselves that they are righteous and despise the rest of the people:

10 Two men go up unto the temple to make prayer; one is a Pharisee, and the other, a tax collector.

11 This Pharisee, stand still, making this prayer toward God, I am grateful to YOU, that myself, I am not as the remaining men are, the swindlers, unrighteous, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.

12 I fast twice in Sabbath week, I pay one-tenth (apodecato) of all things, as much as I acquire.

13 But, far away, the tax collector stands still, he does not desire, and do not even raise up his eyes unto heaven, but smite his chest, saying, oh God, be reconciled/propitious to me, a sinner!

14 I tell you, this man will go down unto his house justified, aside from that man. For everyone who exalt himself will be humbled; but those who humble themselves will be exalted.

Jesus blessed the children 

15 Moreover, even the infants were presented before Him, at least to touch them; but as the disciples are aware of this, they rebuke them on evaluation. 

16 Howbeit, Jesus summons them, and says, leave the children to come to Me, and do not forbid them; no doubt, of such is the kingdom of God.

17 I tell you, and so shall it be, whoever possibly, do not accept kingdom of God as little children would, will not at all, enter into it.

Jesus teaches on Agape-Love in contrast with a friendly-love (philei) which is in the law of Moses

18 And a certain Ruler questions Him, saying, Good Teacher, what is to done, to inherit eternal life?

19 So, Jesus tells him, why talking of being good? Nothing is good to God, if not the ONE of Me. 

20 You know the commandments: do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal; do not be a false-witness; honour your father and mother. (Ex 20:12, Deut 5:16)

21 and, he says, I have kept all these from my youth.

22 So, having heard him, Jesus says, yet, you lack one thing: sell as much as all things that you have, and thoroughly distribute them to beggars, and you will have treasure in heaven; and follow Me here.

23 So, having heard this, he becomes very sorrowful; because he was very wealthy.

wealthy men will hardly  accept the selflessness (agape) of the kingdom of God, but God can save anybody. (Matt 19, Mk 10) 

24 Moreover, Jesus was aware that he was sorrowful, and said, how hardly it is for those having wealth, to enter into the kingdom of God.

25 for, it is easier for carmel to enter through orifice of needle, than a wealthy man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26 But, having heard it, they say, how can they be saved?

27 He says; things of strengthless ones are of/from men, but things of the powerful/strong ones are from God/for God.

The Reward of the followers of Jesus 

28 Peter also says, behold, we have forsaken all of our own to follow you.

29 So He tells them, I tell you, so shall it be, that, there is no one who leave his household, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,

30 who will not indeed, fully receive multiples in this time; and eternal life in the coming age.

Jesus predicted His death and resurrection 

31 Moreover, He takes the twelve to Himself, and says to them, behold, we will go up to Jerusalem, and all things written through prophets on the Son of will be accomplished by men. 

32 for, He will be betrayed to heathen people, and be mocked and abused and be spit upon.

33 And He will be flogged, and they will kill Him; and on the third day, He will rise again.

34 And they understand none of these, even this utterances (rhema) had been hidden from them; and they did not know what He was saying.

Blind Bartimaeus profess faith in Christ to be saved and automatically received his sight

35 Moreover, it happens that, as He approaches unto Jericho, a certain blind-man sits beside the road, begging.

36 so, having heard the crowd passing along, he asks, what this might be?

37 But, they bring words to him, that Jesus, the Nazarene is passing by.

38 And he shouted for help saying, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.

39 And those going ahead rebuke him, at least, to be silent. But, he screams much more: Son of David, have mercy on me.

40 So, Jesus stands still, and commanded them, to bring him. So, he was asked as he comes near,

41 What is it you desire to be done? So, he says, Lord, at least to receive my sight.

42 And Jesus tells him, receive your sight; your Faith saves you.

43 And he receives his sight, free of charge and follow Him, glorifying God. And all the people, see, and give a story of praise to God.
